Gotta get some Goodmamas!!

I LOVE Goodmama diapers! I haven't tried their Goodmama ONE or the Goodmama Goodnights, but their regular fitteds are the majority of John-Michael's current stash. This is thanks to an AWESOME sale that Goodmama had back in August. We normally could not afford these diapers as they are expensive. But you get what you pay for. :)

These diapers are SUPER cute and SUPER absorbent with Bamboo velour and Bamboo fleece. I LOVE being able to put these adorable diapers on my little guy.

Here is John-Michael showing off his Navy one. I need to get pics of him wearing his others. ;)

Diapering fitting tutorial

So here is John-Michael in various NB diapers. These were all taken when he was roughly a month old and btwn 9 and 10lbs (all of the lower pictures). For some reason I don't have a picture of a KL0. I will have to get that, but he is almost 11 lbs now. He has only worn 1 sposie diaper and that was his very first diaper that they put on in the nursery while I was finishing my c-section. Once we got to our recovery room, that came off and the wonderful squishiness was put on!!

Updated:
Here is his first diaper. It was a DDNB orange. I appliqued a matching shirt for this as well. The diaper was pretty large at first and one reason why I went to the reds to wear. He was 7lbs 9oz at birth.

Here he is in the XS Thirsties AIO on the day he came home. He was 6lbs and 15oz in this picture.

Here he is at a week old and weighing 7lbs and 2oz (roughly). It is a KL0

here he is in a DD NB red diaper. This was taken 2 days after the above picture.

This picture shows the XS Thirsties cover. Taken same day as photo above.

Some thoughts - the Darling Diaper Free NB pattern in the red was my favorite along with KL0s when John-Michael was first born. They were easy to sew up and fit great. I made them with 4 layers each (1 knit, 2 flannel (or one flannel and one sherpa), sharpa (wicking layer) or crushed panne for wicking layer. I also made some lay in soakers for more absorbancy. Once the umbilical cord came off, the DDNB orange was my favorite.

The covers I used were Diaperaps NB (hospital version and regular version) and Thirsties XS. That is a BSWW in Small in the Froggy pattern under the Little Beetle.

He is almost 11lbs now and can still wear all of the diapers I made and all of the ones below. The DDNBs that I made with Aplix don't fit as well anymore then the ones with snaps.

John-Michael's Baptism

Just before we left the house.

The actual baptism. Presiding priest was Rev. David A. Runnion

My friend Jessica holding John-Michael.

Joshua's First Haircut

So yesterday we took Joshua to Bangs 'N Bows Hair Boutique in Mt. Pleasant for Joshua's first haircut. It was a cute little salon dedicated to children. It was pricey, but for a first haircut, the expense was worth it.

Too interested in the train table to look up at Mommy and show off his haircut.

Joshua's Girlfriend???

Yeah, they are WAY to young for this. LOL. Joshua's best friend is Rowan. Today after John-Michael's baptism, they surprised us with this:

and then THIS happened:

Of course, I was no where around. I was taking John-Michael out to the car and my two friends as one needed to get back on the road (5 hour drive ahead of her).

All I can say is that it must be his Daddy's influence. LOL

Easter

So, since I have neglected the blog a bit (ok, a lot), I guess I should post some back posting stuff.

Here are some pictures from Joshua's Easter. Unfortunately, Joe had to leave early that morning, so we were only able to get some photos with him before he left. Joshua enjoyed picking up Easter eggs and putting them in his basket. :)

Born May 1, 2009
8:07 am

weighing 7lbs and 9oz

Short Birth Story:

John-Michael was born by repeat cesarean section. Everything went smoothly. I was eating breakfast when I got back to my recovery room (just a little bit). By lunch, I was eating a full meal and still feeling great. Saturday morning, I was up walking around, had showered and put on my regular street clothes. I was able to leave after 48 hours (Sunday).

3 days later, he was weighed and he had gained 3 ounces since leaving the hospital. At his two week appointment he was up to 8lbs and 2oz which is above his birth weight! Breastfeeding is definitely going well this time!!!

John-Michael has also been cloth diapered since diaper #2. The nursery nurse put him in a sposie until we got to our recovery room and cut put him in a cute diaper. I will be posting pictures of our cute newborn stash soon!!

Someone Missed A Science Class

Her stupidity is priceless. How can someone get through TWELVE years of FREE education and still be this ignorant???? Hmmm....I'm 30 years old and I can say FOR CERTAIN that this DID occur twenty years ago, two hundred years and even two thousand and beyond. What a moron.

Babies die to line Big Pharm pockets

So It's been a while since I've blogged (but not as long as Miss N) and it seems as if you are going to at least get a double whammy today.

News story

So parents in Argentina are mourning the loss of their babies to Big Pharm's "right" to Capitalism. Down there $8,000 is a lot, but I'm sorry, I wouldn't take a TRILLION dollars for my baby. Twelve innocent babies had to die so GSK could develop a vaccine against Pneumonia. Wonderful. That's just what we need. Granted, this might do well in nursing homes. But I see this as ending up as just another "requirement" for school. Similar to the Varicella (chicken pox) vaccine that was created so that parents didn't have to be "inconvenience" by taking time off of work to care for their child.

I have a dear friend whose father works for a Big Pharm and she said "what about our X friend? Look at how bad that case was..."

Yes and No. Cases of Varicella as our dear friend got, are rare. And I now know (from talking to my mother) that her case was hugely aggravated by the incompetence of her pediatrician not the virus itself. It will be interesting to see all of these children who have been vaxed in several years. Why, You ask?

Because, the Varicella vax (and the "latest and greatest" ProQuad - yep, let's combine Measles, Mumps, Rubella AND Chicken Pox into one vax - that's smart) is only 10 years old. So let's say that the first ones vaxed were 5, that would make them 15 now. They will prob have to have a booster to enter college, or proof that they got the chicken pox naturally.

So after college, then what? You think adults are going to go and get shots? Heck no. And guess what happens when you get chicken pox as an adult - yep, you have a greater chance of dying. (There's a reason these are CHILDHOOD diseases, people! (smack forehead).

Ok, I need to stop or I'm going to have, as Glenn Beck would say, "blood SHOOTING out of my eyes!"

You think your day was bad???

You could be this couple.

They have seriously "won" the lawsuit jackpot. Now, I am not a "sue happy' kind of person. But this case seriously warrants that. Not only is JP Chase Morgan in a serious bind, they need to start doing some serious PR damage.

If I were president of JPCM, I would be personally on a plane to TX with an open check book. This is after I would have a VP investigate and
1. Fire the company that removed the property
2. Fire the employee who processed the foreclosure
3. Fire the employee who accepted the PAYOFF of the original loan and did nothing to stop the foreclosure
4. Make sure that all 3 credit agencies remove any derogatory information off the previous owners credit report (they are now showing a foreclosure more than likely)

They would be put up in the nicest hotel in town and allowed to eat wherever they wanted until their house was ready for them to return. This family would be purchased whatever they wanted, I would probably hire an assistant to help them get all of their passports, immigration, whatever legal documents needed restored to them. I would pay for a lifetime membership to Lifelock to this entire family as their personal information is gone. I would pay off their brand new mortgage and I would offer a big settlement to them for mental anguish and all that.

I mean, look around you and look at your belongings. Sure some might be nice, some not so nice but isn't just about everything sentimental to you?

If this had happened to us, oh my Lord. I would probably end up on some serious meds. I would be absolutely heartbroken. I think about loosing our memories - our wedding photos, our computers, our scrapbooks, jewelry, clothing, furniture, gifts, sentimental knicknacks, china, everything. I think about loosing all of my sons stuff - his umbilical cord and hospital bracelets, his blankie that was crocheted by his Auntie Jessica and uses every night, his favorite toys, our tax returns, passports, marriage licenses, everything gone.

I feel so badly for this family. And reading from the comments page - this looks like it isn't the first case. There was one family who was sleeping in and woke to someone drilling out their locks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Happy Day and keep a watch our for your own property!

Six Months ALREADY!?!?!?!?

So my sweet baby is growing up too fast (cry). On Friday we had our 6 month well baby visit with the Pediatrician. Joshua is 16lbs 4oz, and 26 inches in height. Dr. A still thinks he is advanced for his age which is good.

Joshua has had 2 teeth since the beginning of March, on Easter Sunday he began to trun from his back to front and is now pulling himself up to a standing position and is scooting backwards. A couple of our friends think that he will be a walker before a crawler. We will just have to see!

Keep checking out http://palmettosweetheart.aboutmybaby.com for more updates, photos and videos.

Joshua is eating more solids now. So far we have had: rice cereal, oatmeal, zwiebach toast, bananas, peaches, avocado, pears, sweet potatoes, and green beans. Apricots, butternut squash and pumpkin are next on my list. I make most of his baby food. I give him the bottled food first to see if there is any reaction and if not, then I buy organic and make it and freeze it for him. Oh! And he LOVES the Puffs finger foods.

Joshua's favorite video is Bob the Builder Live and tv shows are Word World, Little Einsteins. His favorite toy is his purple octopus.
